The local “fairground king” has run a Christmas market on the Champs-Elysees for the past few years, but this year the city government deemed it tacky and withdrew their permit. The mayor just didn’t feel that Made-in-China Eiffel Towers and Mona Lisa magnets were the best reflection of the City of Light and Love. The fairground king and his sympathizers blocked traffic in Paris for several days in protest, but the mayor didn’t give in. So, you’ll have to go to the Christmas market at Les Halles. It has gifts, crepe stands, cheese stalls, handcrafts, and hot wine. Check tomorrow’s post to see what I ate at the Christmas market!
