Fava Beans

A friend told me to peel the beans, blanch the beans, peel the beans again, and eat them.  I did.  Too labor-intensive, and not yummy enough.  Lovely color, though. I see that there are plenty of recipes out there for fava beans, but they involved a lot more work than I’m willing to do.  You try one of those, and let me know how it works out.

Prickly Pear

Desert weed, with fruit.  I was raised in Texas and never got close enough to a prickly pear to notice that it had edible fruit.  That would have been like eating the beans off a mesquite tree.  (That’s probably next week’s vegetable.)  Anyway, I just cut up the prickly pear fruit and ate it.  I was unimpressed. You try it and tell me what you think.
